ACCESSIBILITY

It is the Wests Magpies aim to provide equitable access to the information contained on this site. The site has been designed with useability and accessibility principles as the main drivers for design. Where possible the site conforms with W3C standards for accessibility and voluntarily complies with Australian Commonwealth standards for government websites. The following accessibility features have been included.

Text Based
The site is mostly text based and can be effectively viewed without graphics enabled. This ensures compatibility with most browsers and screen reader programs. The text is designed to be resizable using most modern browsers built in accessibility features. Consult your browsers Help menu to learn more about enabling this feature. The site uses predominantly the Verdana font (Arial as second option) due to its high legibility and compatibility with most browsers .

Tables
For compatability with older browsers this site's structure is formed by the use of html TABLES. The TABLES use relative dimensions as apposed to fixed-dimensions allowing for dynamic page layouts based on the viewers screen size. Where appropriate TABLES contains the SUMMARY tag to benefit users accessing the site with a screen reader.

CSS
This site now utilises Cascade Style Sheets for its design. This allows the replacement of the now redundant FONT code from HTML ensuring future compatibility. The use of CSS also improves accessibility by enabling users to implement their own styles. Style sheets also help to reduce download times.

Simple Navigation
The navigation system is common throughout the site to ensure consistency. The text based JavaScript drop down menus provide quick access to the sites main pages. To complement these are html text links that enable full access to the site for users with browsers that do not support JavaScript. Located at the bottom of each sub-page is a text link that returns users to the sites Home page.

ALT Tags
The majority of pictures and graphics contained on the site contain ALT tags, so when selected or hovered over by the mouse cursor, will reveal a description of the image. Text equivalents have been provided where possible for all essential graphics.

Screen Size

No Frames
This site does not contain frames, enabling access for older internet browsers.
