WESTERN SUBURBS MAGPIES TEAM OF THE 1960's
Named on the 22nd of February 2008 at Wests Ashfield Leagues.
The 60's era was one of the most significant and exciting for the club, full of memories of achievements and agonising moments. The list of former Magpie greats and legends that played for the club during the sixties ranks amongst the greatest in the games history.
Wests were runners-up for 3 consequtive years in the 1960's. Wests lost to St George 22-0 in the 1961 grand final and 9-6 in the ’62 grand final. St George beat Wests 8-3 in the mud in the 1963 grand final, now famous for the image of Norm Provan and Arthur Summons embracing at the end of the game.
